But I have been pleasantly surprised by the contests I've been to. Even when someone else clearly has the best story of the night I feel like I'm in the company of fellow artists and not some kind of literary reality show. The storytellers I've met so far in Seattle have all been kind and supportive no matter what their experience level. While poetry slams seem more aggressive and limiting in their style I find storyslam audiences and judges to be thoughtful, kind and open-minded. Thanks for this site, Doug.
